NATURE PARALLELS
painterly
red apples
after autumn rain
winter —
in a world of one color
the taste of peaches
(after Basho)
bitter wind —
in the concert hall
the rites of spring
the rain
brings the lilac fragrance
over the hill
the hummingbird
never quite lands
on the flower
ATTACHMENTS
cancer patient —
the beauty
of her breast
walking around each other
in the silence
of the quarrel
miles apart
I feel closest
to my mother
childhood cancer-
I tell her
hair doesn’t matter
DAILY RIPPLES
out of work
toasting bread
nothing to put on it
stench following me
there it is
on my shoe bottom
