MORE ABOUT QIGONG How does it work? As an art, Qigong balances yin and yang, improving energy flow and promoting a life-affirming attitude. You may wonder exactly how qigong affects the flow of Qi to improve health. It works according to acupuncture theory, which states that there are places along each meridian where Qi becomes blocked. These points of stagnation or blockage need to be released to ensure the continuous and balanced flow of energy constituting optimum health. Analogous to your garden hose, where water flows freely provided there are no kinks, your qi flows uninterrupted provided there are no blockages. However, if the hose (or qi flow) becomes constricted, there will be an excess of water (or qi) on one side of the obstruction and a deficiency on the other. The breathing, stretching, postures and focused intention of Qigong treats and removes blockages by "elongating the hose". By ensuring the balanced flow of energy, your organs, nerves, glands and cells are properly nourished, thereby promoting health and longevity. Back to ABOUT QIGONG
